The easiest way to open links in new tabs is with middle-clicks. But many touchpads (laptop mice) don’t provide an easy way to middle-click.

InstaClick solves this problem. It removes context-menus for hyperlinks. When right-clicking on a link, the link immediately opens in a new tab. Right-clicking anywhere else in Firefox (i.e., not a link) has the usual effect of displaying a context-menu. To temporarily cancel InstaClick’s behavior, hold the SHIFT, CTRL, or COMMAND key while right-clicking on a link. The context-menu appears as normal.

Presently, InstaClick has no user interface. To disable it, use the Firefox Add-ons Manager (Tools->Add-ons->Disable button).

IdentFavIcon is based on the idea of Don Park called identicon to generate visually pleasing and easily recognizable icons from identifiers, such as IP addresses. This extension replaces the default favicon for web pages without one with a visually pleasing identicon, which is unique for each domain. The extension uses the CRC-32 code of the web page’s domain name to seed the identicon renderer.

IdentFavIcon requires zero configuration, there are no options to mess with. Just visit a site without a favicon, and as soon as the download finishes, you should see your shiny new identfavicon in the tab header and among your bookmarks.

This is a re-engineered version of HashColouredTabs by Terry Yuen; It will now also show the coloured icon in the location bar, the ‘List all tabs’ dropdown (Firefox 2), History Sidebar and menu, Bookmarks Sidebar and menu, urlbar autocomplete results, and the back/forward dropdown (Firefox 3).
